TRAINING

Our training enables your staff to work with chlorine in a safe manner, as well as respond to minor on site chlorine emergencies. We also have training for the safe transport of Dangerous goods.

CHLORINE TRAINING COURSE
CHLORINE STORAGE AND HANDLING (UNIT STANDARD 242996)
COMBINED WITH RESPIRATORY EQUIPMENT TRAINING

The course is TETA approved Training and will be done by iKapa Commodities (TETA 09 – 205).
Training will be conducted on site in order to familiarize the candidates with their equipment in their environment.

Please ensure that respiratory equipment is in working order on the day of training.

• Harmful effects of Chlorine
• Properties of Chlorine Containers
• Function of Chlorine Valve
• Handling of Chlorine Containers
• Storage of Chlorine Containers
• Chlorine Plant Layout
• PPE required while using Chlorine
• Handling of Chlorine incidents
• First Aid Procedures

PRACTICAL
• Entering Chlorine Room
• Using BA Set and PPE
• Detecting Chlorine Leaks
• Connecting and Disconnecting Containers
• Dealing with Stuck and Leaking Valves
• Using Chlorine Kit A / B
o Identifying Parts
o Fitting of a Safety Hood on a Cylinder
o Fitting of a Chain Patch
o Fitting of a Safety Hood on a Tank
• Emergency Procedures when evacuating

CHLORINE EQUIPMENT
• Equipment used for chlorine dosing

RESPIRATORY EQUIPMENT THEORY:
FULL FACE MASK

PRACTICAL:
• Donning BA Set

• Changing Cylinder

• Emergency Procedures

Each student:
• Will receive a Handbook for reference
• Will be tested theoretically and results will be kept on record
• Will be entering a Chlorine Room with full PPE and demonstrate competency

On Completion each successful student will:
• Receive a Certificate of Competence for Chlorine handling
• Receive a Photo Identification Card of Competence for Chlorine handling
• Duration: 1 day training course
